Programmes & Initiatives
RootsToWorld

At inception, ADEREDA has launched three founding programmes representing immediate institutional priorities across training, advisory, and diagnostics:

International Rotations & Electives

International clinical rotations and elective exchange programme for medical students and healthcare professionals seeking global exposure. Operational since 2021 with active institutional partnerships across East Africa and beyond.

How it works

The clinician who has trained only in one system knows only one system. The researcher who has worked only in one institution inherits only its assumptions. International exposure is not a luxury for clinicians and researchers in the Global South. It is a professional necessity and for most of them, it has historically been out of reach

RootsToWorld was founded in 2021 to change that. It connects medical students, clinical trainees, and earlycareer health professionals with international clinical rotation and elective opportunities placing African trainees in institutions beyond their home country, and international trainees in East African clinical settings.

Four years of operation have built a network of partner universities, teaching hospitals, and postgraduate training programmes across the East African region and beyond. The decision to bring RootsToWorld into ADEREDA was architectural: the generation of leaders who will build and sustain the health institutions the Global South needs are in training right now. RootsToWorld is where some of them are being shaped.
